now you understand why the hard reset is so critical to isolating the remote access problem;
This is an Adminstratative issue and its EXACTLY as I analyzed it.
Its a major administrative problem with these units since they do NOT support true remote RE-configuration and especially after HARD...
"sdeens, we'll have to agree to disgree then. You aren't getting what I am saying."
That has nothing to do with it at all, your setup is LOCAL and ours is stricktly remote. apples--oranges
Gary Mull please contact me directly via PM at this forum, and we can debug these "sequence of...

"sdeens, please reread my post. I didn't use the router, there is no 'remote' networking involved."
I re-read your post four times, but what is NOT clear is: was your test remote from say 10 miles away via the internet and not via a direct local CAT-5 connection? NOT interested in local...
Dan Electron,
It wont make any difference if you test it remotely using another laptop, its the MAC address of the router NOT the MAC address of the PC that may somehow been stored in NVram inside the Quatech itself. The drivers are additonal considerations not primary.
The manual mentions...
MAC adderss can be spoofed but NOT nearly as easy or convenient as an IP address and that's not the issue here. I have done both.
MAC addresses are much safer than IP binding, and many such TCP/IP remote devcies will use MAC for this purposes instead (PCs are all different too)...they are ALL...
this is what you first said and that port makes no difference:
" (I assume there is also a port for 'control')"
Gary Mull and I both tried it and it does not help with remote access at all.
I think its the MAC address of the home router versus UNSIGNED drivers being signed simultaneously by...
"Which ports did you forward? Did you forward UDP/49344 as I mentioned above? "
Why are you using port 49344?
Show me where in any of the technical documents that this specific port is required.?
we use ports in the 20000+ range.
I think its time I call technical support up and speak to the...
Is there any way to get around this "INITIAL REMOTE ACCESS MARRY DRIVERS CONFIGURATION" problem?
"(initial configuration requires the QSE to be on the same physical network segment as the computer you are using), then move the QSE-100 to the remote location. I'm not sure if simply forwarding...
thanks Dan (Electron),
that's good to know that it is natively supporting UDP packets as opposed to TCP; :)
there are some interesting advantages to UDP as far as packet loss is concerned and perhaps that is why the torrent applications use this protocol instead for data transfer.
is v1.42...
