Thanks everyone for the input. The replacement (used) works fine. The board is stamped "2000" while the new one I got was from "2010".
Would this cause the keypad to not register the key presses as well? Or just cause a lack of beeping?
No I cannot enter programming mode. It acts as if I'm not pressing any buttons whatsoever. There is that think where you can press 1 and 3 while it boots -- that doesn't do anything either. I think it isn't receiving the button presses.
I'm going to finish up one chore hopefully soon and...
Yes, the display lights and everything appears like it is working fine. However, when I press any button there is no "beep" nor any indication that the presses are getting registered.
As for the scratches: I believe that to be fine.
I will try wiring up the keypad to the panel w/ a short...
AFAIK it only crossed one other trace. I checked that one and it has continuity. It didn't looked like the scratch went all the way through so that made sense.
Is the keyboard module somethign that can be replaced separately?
It would be a big coincidence for it to fail immediately after...
The problem in short:
My 6160 keypad keys worked properly for 20+ minutes and then stopped working. Previously they "beeped" at every touch and now no beeps when pressing the buttons. The unit acts as if no buttons are being pressed.

Based on advice from here I purchased...
First, I'll apologize up front. I know this question gets asked a lot. I've done a lot of research and just can't figure it out. I think I want something that must not be common.
It seems like the Elk M1 and HAI OmniPro are both very popular and very powerful. I know I could do anything I...
Thanks for all the input. That datasheet is awesome.
I looked at the Mi Casa Verde and it seems great but I got the impression that most folks thought it was too limiting. It does seem like it'd be good for my needs, though.
I've read about people having troubles with the wireless deadbolts and I haven't nailed down if this model is one that announces it's status to a controler when it's opened/closed:

Well the "security" door is honestly a matter of budget. A single "real" $2k door would be great, but there is a $100 steel security door in front of a mostly-glass standard door (90 years old, mind you). It sounds like I'm having trouble with my research because this isn't something that...
I am new to the home automation scene and am looking to get my feet wet with an electronic door lock. I expect to be home-brewing an alarm system with a Raspberry Pi and hope to integrate the lock into it. I have all sorts of questions which seem dumb to me but for the life of me I cannot find...
