It is a hardware device that has a serial port on one side and an Ethernet port on the other. So, I would expect that it would convert Ethernet protocol to serial protocol. On a Windows or a Linux PC, I would expect there is some kind of driver that make it appear as an Ethernet port and allows...
I am still trying to keep my OmniIIe going. Did anyone try using an Ethernet to serial adapter with this board? They seem to be quite inexpensive and my board has multiple serial ports and only one of them is actively used as of now.
If this is a possibility, I can give it a try. But I am not...
I don’t see myself doing any soldering even though I have done it in the past in less risky situations. Risk of burning something else is too high here. So, unless it is a plug-in chip, it is out of the equation. I use Ethernet only for mobile app connectivity and programming via the dealer...
I did power the board down completely and reset the RAM from the interface. It didn’t restore ping.
Ethernet port led is on. Beyond that I have no way to know if the port is actually working.
In the past, changing the hub/switch/router directly connected to the board restored connectivity for...
No. The ping response also deteriorated over time. Initially there was a small loss of packets and it increased gradually and now it is 100% loss.
Network connection and routing are good. I tested that by putting a different device at the same endpoint.
Did you have to do anything with the Omni board other than putting it behind the router to isolate it from the rest of the network.
In my case, that setup worked for multiple weeks but the response deteriorated over time. Now I can’t get it to work again.
I reset the RAM and powered the board down completely (disconnect both AC and the battery). It didn’t restore connectivity. Ping packets are 100% lost. Just as a sanity check, I connected another device to the same endpoint and IP address and it responds and is accessible over its interface. So...
I have been having ethernet connectivity and speed issues with my Omni2e for many months. I tried two different 10/100 hub/switches each of which worked for a few weeks. Most recently I separated the subnet with Omni from rest of the network by putting an old Linksys 10/100 router to bridge the...
