Add partition to a Vista 20P system?

Hi everyone,

About a year and a half ago I installed a Vista 20P in my house.  I wanted to get an Elk but due to lack of funds managed to get a pretty good deal on a Vista 20P.  I figured having something was better than nothing.

I already have used up both partitions of the 20P.  Partition 1 is my house, Partition 2 is my shed outside.  I like to keep my shed armed all the time.

This is where my problem lies.  The basement is my "man cave" and is where I keep a bunch of my collectibles such as comic books and sports memorabilia.  The basement is basically off limits to the kids.  They are not allowed to go down there.  So I want to add a 3rd partition for the basement.

1. so I know that I am the only one going down there and 2. while the stuff down there is not worth a ton of money, it's worth enough to me that I would be pretty bummed if it got stolen.  Plus it's stuff that I have collected for a long time and most was given to me by my father so it has more sentimental value associated to it than monetary value.   Another major reason I would like to add the basement as a partition and leave the alarm on all the time is because half of the time when my sister is babysitting my kids she forgets to put the alarm on if she ever leaves the house.

Yeah, I kind of have the attitude that only a few things would really, really bother if they were stolen.  The pictures of my kids and family, which I backup like crazy and keep a copy offsite, and the stuff I have in my basement. Everything else can be replaced.

So does Ademco sell a module where I can add on to my existing system to increase the number of partitions I have?  Or should I just pick up another vista 20p and wire it just for the basement?

Thanks for the help.

It does only have 2 partitions.  Is there a module they sell that I can add a partition? Or would I be better off just getting another vista 20p for cheap and use that?

20P is 2 partitions with a common lobby. It won't do what you're wanting it to do, no way, no how.

Options are to add a second panel, increase the overall complexity of the entire setup (arming/disarming/notification, etc.)  and have the second panel trip a point on the first panel, but no easy way to control the "entire" system from a single (or multiple) keypads.

Other option would be to move to a 50P (or larger). If you don't have 4219/4229's, then it's a 1:1 swap and keypads are reusable. Panel price isn't as bad as you'd think compared to a second entire system.
