Thin is in (and life is good)!  Check out this 6.9 mm (slightly over a quarter of an inch) thick LED monitor from LG (look for the small thin black line running top to bottom in the center of the image below).

Just to show you that this really is a monitor, here is another view...

Of course a great monitor like this has to be 'shown off' appropriately...

But does that TV have VESA wall mounting capability, or are all the electronics (besides the panel itself) in the base?

It does have a hefty base...if for nothing else than the cable connections, as the screen is thinner I think than most connectors!

Heck, that thin and light, who needs a vesa mount? Just take some scotch tape, fold it back on itself, and use that to hold the screen to the wall.
