Energy Detective Phase Coupler

I have a TED 1000 ( http://theenergydetective.com ). It works great on certain outlets, but not on the ideal outlet (cannot connect). I am guessing I need a phase coupler, however I don't know which one to buy. According to the TED debug guide:

http://www.theenergydetective.com/media/Tr...ing%20Guide.pdf

it operates with a 132 kHz carrier, similar to other power-line communication standards. I was going to buy this coupler:

but I read a review that said it does not work with TED.

I emailed TED support last week but they have not responded. Has anyone successfully used a phase coupler with a TED? Which one?

Thanks,
HS

I thought the official answer to your problem was to move the transmitter to the other phase (out at the main box where the CTs are installed.)

Hari, Had similar problem with mine, moved wires to different breakers and resolved.

As for customer service. I have emailed them before with little luck. But I have called several times with just fantastic support. Had a problem with display unit, had a new one the next day by fedex.

Thanks for the tips. My breaker panel is full on the phase that apparently corresponds with the ideal outlet. I didn't want to rearrange the breakers but if that is the only way I guess I'll do it. It's a bit complicated because the 'ideal' outlet is actually sourced from one of two subpanels. I have the TED MTU connected to one phase in the main panel.

I noticed that this coupler has a chart that indicates it will pass 132 kHz:

You can use a coupler, in fact almost any X-10 coupler should work, BUT to correctly meet the NEC the coupler must be installed on its own breakers, and it uses two, so you have the same breaker problem you started with, maybe worse. So the easiest way is just swap the breaker with the one next to it or use a different outlet.

You said you have MTU connected to 'one ' phase on panel? You do know one wire from mtu needs to go on one phase, the second wire on other phase. Took me a few tries (even tho every other breaker is theoretically a different phase, was not the case in my box)
