Facebook?

i'm bucking the trend, and staying the hell away from FB. My perspective is that it's a privacy nightmare; folks share stuff they shouldn't be sharing, with people they are or used to be friends with. As if that dude you used to hang with in elementary school that you lost touch with couldn't possibly be a bad guy now (or have bad guy friends), he used to have the coolest Huffy bike that he let you borrow!

Plus whaddya do if co-workers who you occasionally go to happy hour with wanna "friend" you; do you accept their invites, knowing that they'll be part of the same circle as the frat boys you used to <censored> with?

It's a gigantic cluster of too-much-information being too public, and you're dreaming if you think you can ever wipe your online FB footprint fully clean.

Hey who here in on Facebook? Who would like to see Cocoontech on Facebook?

;)

I added you, John. Rick added me as well and I saw you in his list. I'm not too worried about privacy issues when it comes to Facebook. I don't add anyone I don't know and I never post anything that I wouldn't consider public information.

Just another place to visit. I vote that Cocoontech does not start a "Facebook" page... you ungins wit yer facebooks and whatnot!

And YES!, I am a crotchety old man, thanks for asking. ;)

i would add linkedin to the list but i don't see what either offer really that we don't already have on here. between chat, forum, and pm we have most of the communication vehicles covered.

I've resisted successfully so far. I think I've seen ~60 invites via email, and I've ignored them all.

I agree wholeheartedly with IVB. I have too many skeletons. ;)

While i used to be all about the Internet and these types of things I've resisted MySpace and Now Facebook...the only time i even see Facebook is when my wife is on her page (which i do not like, at least i got her to take down her Myspace and had her remove some information from her Facebook page).

I still find it crazy that the $8 / hour comcast phone operator needs my date of birth, mothers maiden name and last 4 of my social just to tell me if a tech is coming out or not. For my security they say then....please give me all the information they need to call my credit card company.

I vote no for FB page. I like face book and I like CT, mixing them seems like mixing Red Bull and red wine (two things I like). Plus I'm not sure I want my friends knowing about my HA habit...

Even that it's not gonna happen. Can we use this thread to express how much do we hate Facebook? Please, please..... :D

CT would be "jumping the shark" if it were involved with FB.

Just like the ads question a while ago, I can understand if more traffic was the goal, though.
