How standalone is the Aprilaire 8870 thermostat?

Getting ready to purchase some new hardware for the new house, curious to know how Aprilaire thermostat programming works? Does it have any built-in programming for weekdays, weekends, daytime, sleep time, etc? I plan on hooking it up to M1 Gold and Homeseer for 2-way communication, but I'm not sure when I'll have the rest going, and thinking of getting the T-stat first to get started.

Parents would like to lower the temp at night automatically and we're given a cheap T-stat at the moment :wacko:

As far as I know, it has no standalone scheduling/timers, etc. It works fine as a standalone thermostat, communicates with remote sensors and displays remote temp/humidity, etc, but no scheduling or intelligence, or triggers.

I am relatively new at this. Anyhow, once you hook it up to the Elk M1G you will be able to write rules to control based on events, times, etc... In case you are unaware, you will need a protocol adapter (8811) to hook up the Aprilaire 8870 to the M1G as well as the M1XSP.
