Leviton/HAI UPB Scene question

I would start initially with one new serial PIM.  Ideally an HAI UPB PIM for use with your panel.  Test it from each phase on all of your UPB devices. If you purchase a serial PCS PIM you will need to make a custom serial cable for use with the OPII panel.

Then add an HAI UPB Phase coupler.

1 - 39A00-1  HAI UPB Phase coupler  - see this device on Amazon for around $52.  You can also call up the vendors here and ask for their pricing on device.

This should work for you with a new HAI PIM just fine.

If it doesn't do anything for you then try an HAI Repeater

2 - 39A00-2  HAI Split-Phase-Repeater (SPR) - these were on sale a little bit ago.  These a bit more expensive.

Here I do not know what I really am using relating to gen1 or gen2.

It is a hodgepodge of PCS, HAI and SA now.  They all work fine from the HAI OPII connected PIM / HAI UPB repeater.

Here I have multiple PIMs in place because I am currently running multiple pieces of software that connect to the spare UPB PIMs.  (IE HomeSeer).

Found the source of my PIM problems.  Apparently, somehow the G2 PIM firmware was corrupted.  So, I reset the PIM to factory defaults using the following procedure:

1 Press the Program button five (5) times quickly in a row.
2 The LED should start to blink green to indicate it is in Setup Mode.
3 Press the Program button ten (10) times quickly in a row.
4 The LED should start to blink red to indicate that the Factory Defaults have been set.
5 Press the Program button one (1) more time.
6 The LED should stop blinking to indicate that it is ready for normal operation.

I've reset both PIMS and will start from scratch.  The G2 PIM no longer displays the 3328 Unknown interface firmware version error after the factory reset.

Good news Bob!

Now you can test your UPB network with Upstart using the diagnostic tools built in to the software.

Download newest version of Upstart here after registering on the PCS website.

Upstart 8.0

or

Upstart 8.0 from the Simply Automated website.

Easiest to test signals on both phases with a laptop running whatever / serial pim.  Use a usb to serial adapter if your laptop doesn't have a serial port.  Try first testing next to the G1 PIM connected to the OPII on the same phase.  Then try second phase testing near the fuse panel.  Then do the same as you move away from the fuse panel. Scan the entire UPB network each time you test your UPB switches.   If you have any signal suckers / noise generators you will see them with Upstart.  If you decide to purchase a hot spare UPB PIM purchase the PCS USB UPB PIM rather than the SA UPB PIM.

You can also run Upstart on one of those new $100 Intel Baytrail Windows 10 tablets and use the USB port on it to connect to a serial PIM.

Just looking at my fuse panel I still have an SA and PCS phase coupler in place (but off).

I do not use them anymore such that I can send you one of them if you want.
