M1 wireless

Now that the M1 wireless receiver is out I have come across an issue that I think could have some potential.

This all came about when a mate put in a small garage in his back yard and wanted to add it to his security system. We added a wireless receiver and put in a radio PIR, but then there was more that he wanted to add such as a roller door contact, entry door contact and contacts for the windows - mainly to let him know if he had left them open when leaving.

While there may be wireless versions of all these they are more costly and larger in physical size. What I want and cant find is a wireless input expander.

So what I think would be a great addition is a wireless input expander, but instead of having the data bus connections it has a wireless connection back to the M1 - a great addition for outbuildings. Similarly a relay module could be used (which we need as well to open and close the roller door).

I'd also like to see a combo board that had 8 input and 4 relays for smaller installs, such as the garage in questions, in both a wired and wireless version.

I think that's a great idea and second it.

In the interim, I remember reading at least one of the GE wireless transmitters has a provision to attach a wired sensor like a roller-ball. I just can't remember which one it was.

as long as we're making wishlists... the wireless input expander could have a databus connection, but to be used to connect the databus wirelessly as well. that way, i could have a wireless input expander downstairs, and connect a keypad to its databus connection, and not have to run the wire all the way back to the panel.

The wireless data bus extender would cover my scenario above quite easily. Thats probably a better way to go as it is more universal.

Still would like a small combo expander though

The NX-650 allows a seperate wired contact. I actually have a few for sale here on Cocoontech.

That's the one. I couldn't find it when I posted and I don't always trust my memory. :)

Thanks for the verification.

Hey, while we are at it, why not have a wireless keypad that can be set on an end table or something. Something like a kp2 with a 30 degree mount...

Maybe Elk could do some Manufacturer to Manufacturer training for some other companies that may or may not be spoken about on these forums

I had planned a woodworking project like this so I could sit a KP2 on my nightstand. If Elk creates a 30-degree base, how about making it symmetrical so the keypad can sit at either 30 or 60 degrees from the tabletop? Also include an RJ45 jack with screw terminals on the inside of the base. Then we can easily attach the keypad to the base, and connect the base to a structured wiring wall jack with an appropriate length standard patch cable.
