He probably got intoxicated from the "cocoon effect", where a pretty decent deal spreads like wildfire here and all of the sudden people are buying them out of sheer panic.

FWIW, I received the half-dozen used units I ordered and they all arrived in excellent shape. I created a test jig with a kettle and confirmed they all work properly. I'd buy from Mechtronics again.
