MX900 remote by URC

I have decided that I no longer wish to be hostage to the limitation of IR control and am now looking at RF as my prefered solution. I know several of you use various models of the URC MX series remotes but I do not recall seeing any references to anyone using the MX 900. After reading up on various RF remotes and models, the MX900 appears to be my target unit. I also am aware that I need to purchace it from an authorided dealer who can provide me with the full upgradeable software package. Now that I am leaning in that direction, I have some questions before I make any leap.
1) Any experienced MX900 users out there? Any advice or cautions I need to be aware of?
2) Recommended dealers?

You can find lots of users at the remote central URC forum.

SurfRemoteControl.com, specifically Mike, is always on the AVSForum Remote Control subforum. Most folks seem to love that guy, and I'm almost 100.0% sure he's authorized.

Yes Surf remote is an authorized dealer, I bought both of my URC remotes (MX-600 and MX-980) there. They have great pricing and also you get the software. I don't know if the MX-900 is subject to the 200 mile radius restriction rule like the MX-980 is, if it is you need to find a local dealer.

Until the MX-880 came out, the MX-900 was my number 1 selling remote. Very reliable, durable and straight forward in my opinion.

URC also added variables to the MX-900 recently which makes it even more capable. My main complaint is the small text fields can be a bit of a limitation when naming activities/devices.

I had one as my main remote for two years and was very happy with it.

(Disclaimer: Above not intended to be an offer for sale of any hardware or software, just friendly advice.)

Completely agree. I have the 900 and it is great. Not too complicated to program, but still has the power to do what you need.

With that said, I am upgrading every remote in my house to the 880. Love the form factor and since it is based on the 900 architecture, it will be easy to program.

You didn't ask but I'll mention it anyway.

I have 4 MX980's with an msc400 controller and I'm very happy in all respects. The programming was a huge learning curve for me but once programmed they work every time and even my 4 year old is able to turn on Mickey Mouse clubhouse without waking me up!!!

YEAH!!!

Thanks all...just what I wanted to hear. Guess I need to look a bit closer to the MX880 also.
