Omni aux zone voltage input vice contact closure

Looked through the HAI developer forum and knowledgebase, read the install and user manuals, searched here and at worthington.
I can't find a definitive answer.

Is it possible to send a HI/LO voltage input to an Omni zone rather than a contact closure?

I understand I can use the zone loop number as a trigger, but is that based solely on the loop circuit voltage and resistance?

i.e. Can I hook a single wire to one side of a zone, place a resistor across the terminals, and send a HI (+12VDC) (or LO for that matter) to the zone input and use that as a NOT READY trigger?

Thanks

HAI controllers support the use of open collector output type devices, similar to what you are referring to. In such applications, the output of the device is connected to the "+" terminal of the zone and a 1K, 1/2 resistor is strapped across the "+/-" of the zone. The resistor provideds the end-of-line secure state and when the device trips, it applies a 12VDC signal to the zone, causing the zone loop to drop to 0 (typically).

Lajaycee - where did you find this information? I too was trying to find info on using voltage inputs but could not locate anything. You mention a 12V input, but can this be done with a 5V as well? What are the tolerances of the input?
