Since I'm interested in what others are doing with Premise, I thought it'd be neat to post a few pics here in hopes others would post pictures of their Premise install... This is still a work in progress as I've only been a home owner for 3 months, but I'm very pleased with the system so far :) Everything was retrofitted into existing walls, so the small pictures below represent a lot of work!

That is darn impressive!!! Very nice and well done with an air of professionalism. I hadn't considered using an in-wall mounted server box - primarily assome of my components wouldn't fit into one (Xantech 12 channel Amp; ZPR68-10; DT-7000s tuner, etc), so I used a rack instead. I like what you have done!

Thanks Chuck! Your comments mean a lot coming from someone as seasoned in the HA field like yourself.

I originally had everything in a single rack when I lived in an apartment, but decided to move some stuff into a structured wiring box to make things more permanent. If/when I add a matrix a/v switcher and distributed audio amps, I'll add a wall mounted rack (or freestanding) with conduits that go into the attic.

Luckily, Premise supports a distributed concept that allows you to combine your system accross multiple racks or cans and have the SYS server anywhere you'd like. If this wasn't the case things would get cramped in a single closet since my home and all homes in the area rarely has basements.

Ok, that install is sweet looking. I'll post some pictures of my messy equipment room later, but for now here are some screen grabs of the Windows Phone 7 front end I've been building. I now have the following scenarios working:

Quick Access: Provides the front page of the app.

Security: Allows me to arm/disarm the alarm.

Garage Doors: Allows me to check the status of the GDOs and open/close them

Lighting Scenes: Allows me to trigger lighting scenes

I'm now working on Audio/Video which will allow me to control the TVs and all-house-audio.

I plan on building interfaces for IrrigationPro, security cameras, and HVAC as well.

Since it's all Silverlight/C# code it will be easy to port to a Silverlight app that runs on the desktop. There's an opensource C#/Silverlight implementation called Monotouch that runs on iPhone as well so theoretically I could port it there...

Now THAT'S great news! Can't wait to get my hands on it.

And etc6849 - That is very nice work. I may have to refuse to show mine for a while ;) But this is what the interface currently looks like. I did such a bad job way back when I did this, that there's no way to package it up for others to use. I modified too much core stuff. One day I'll redo it the right way.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm really excited about Charlie's work. Since his interface looks so efficient, I bet it runs very well on 3G. Hopefully Android will have Silverlight soon, otherwise, I may have to switch to Windows Phone 7 (assuming Charlie is kind enough to release his work of art to us ;) ).

I am stunned! An unbelievable job, Charlie! Is there a chance we'll see that work in the Premise downloads?

I need it to check on my one garage door !

The full solution won't be useful to others as my Premise schema is pretty custom, but the core might be for someone who wants to build their own Silverlight/WP7 front end. Once I get a few more screens implemented & I'm 100% confident the infrastructure works reliably I'll put the code out there for everyone to see...

Sounds great! I'm sure one of the members here can do something with it. Too bad I'm not a programmer (I learned vbscript in 2009 only to use Premise :) ).

At any rate are you the ckindel on sourceforge who posted MCE Controller? I'm curious if you're doing anything with Premise and Windows 7 Media Center?

I use Media Center a lot in my home and have been thinking about trying to build a Premise module that would index recordings and pictures as "Media Content" so that they would show up in the Automation Browser. There are a few modules made that I was going to use to borrow from (since I'm not a programmer), mainly Rob's DVD Changer module.

Charlie...one of the reasons I dont submit my stuff is that I have a lot of custom stuff. My programming skills allow me to hack stuff, understand why something might not work, but to write something from ground level and be applicable across the board is beyond my pay grade....so toss it up! We'll all thank you and hack to our hearts content!

BTW, the Damons, 123s, Johns, ETCs , and basically anyone whose username isn't chucklyons are my idols!

Thanks Spanky. If I ever get laid off or something I might. I'm just a DIYer for now.

This was my first install. The only thing I might do differently next time is use less cat6. However, if motion sensors ever become smart (and I think they will in the next 5-10 years), the cat6 will come in handy.

Thanks Chuck, I'm honored to have my name in the same post as Damon, 123 and John! Don't forget Charlie, Rob and Jim too! Truth be told, you're ahead of me when it comes to Premise and UI's. I tried looking at the AB code and was completely lost. I think with some documentation I might be able to understand it, but I could never create anything like it.
