SA Cable Box IR Remote Conflict

I have 2 Scientific Atlanta Cable boxes (8300 HD). I have RF range extenders installed in both remotes. The problem is now that there is no way to distinguish which remote belongs to which box. Other boxes (satellite in particular) have features to set remote IDs so that this doesn't happen, but I haven't seen this documented anywhere. Anyone know if it's possible to do something like that on these units?

I have the same cable boxes and a very similar wish. I was thinking of putting both cable boxes/DVRs in a closet and share them via direct wires or a matrix switch. But I hadn't seen a packaged solution so that you were controlling only the box you were watching.

This is on my agenda as well. I imagine this will be a popular subject since the boxes are widely used.

Yeah these are everywhere. I've read through some of the AVSforum threads but haven't seen anything relating to this topic.

I'm using these and supposedly they come in 2 frequencies so I'm going to have to obtain the other.

harmony 890 or w1000 and a rf extender...assign ir ports off the extender and label tv1, tv2 on the remote. hide the components if needed. realistic rf range around 60'. it's z-wave and you can add z-wave modules for rf control too on the 890 such as lighting for wireless lighting control.
