Stand alone digital tv tuner for LCD?

We have a nice 52" LCD Screen that we use as a computer display. We want to find a stand alone "Digital" tv tuner to turn it into a TV. The cheaper the price the better. I did a search and only found analog tuners which would become useless next year. We are talking about over the air television. Can any of you help with this?

What kind of connections does it support?

Component, S-Video would be the best output since the VGA is already in use by the PC. Also, it needs some form of analog audio out since we don't have a digital speaker system for it. RCA or stereo jack out would work for audio.

Do you really want it to down sample to NTSC?

I am unsure if such a device exists right now, you might consider looking at the FCC site I think they may have helpful info.

A quick search on eBay for Digital Tuner returns a number of standard definition and high-definition boxes that should do what you want. Standard definition boxes will output S-Video and composite. HD boxes add component and sometimes VGA or DVI. With a 52" screen you would probably want to pay slightly more and get the HD box.

Suck it up and go get SageTV already, then you can get an HDExtender and have much more than just regular tv.

The point is that we are not allowed to watch TV at work and streaming videos on work computers have also been banned. I know, I know... So sad that I actually have time for TV at work. We watch it during lunch and sometimes while we are working at our desk. But it can't be attached to our work PCs and any way.

wait for the echostar tr-40 (coming in march) and use the $40 coupon (link posted above) and you get the tuner free

If you look at the comments on that site you will notice that this tr-40 box does not have component outputs because if it did it would not qualify for the coupon. The tr-50 does not qualify according to the comments people have posted with quotes from the laws passes.

As long as the box I posted above will output 720p and 1080i then I think that is my best bet for the money. The specs on it state 480i out but it's not clear what connection outputs that applies to. I have a post over at AVSforum to see what the answer is.
