status / bright / Dim issue using CM15 ubuntu 9.10

hi,
i'm using the ncherry's driver to send order's to my CM15 on ubuntu 9.10 by PERL scripts (including the misterhouse's X10::CM15 library), i'd like to now how to send a status request then read feedback from the module (after sending a status request for example).
all i've managed to do is:
- send on/off orders
- send DIM/BRIGHT order but this didn't work well with my lm12 module the DIM order switches off the light then i have to send 2 BRIGHT orders to get a little lighting

Does the LM12 module have soft start {load ramps up and down slowly} or go on and off instantly. With an on and off command?
Soft start modules act differently with our US models.

Can you verify the LM12 is two way and will answer a status request?

All of the presently made US X10 models are one way and will not answer a status request.

LM12 is an International Model.
