i noitice lots of Elk fans on this site. i run Homeseer via pro 100. have napco 9600 panel and wired zones... a few wireless now. i love working with HA and make my house as "automated" as possible in terms of home management... sprinklers, hvac, cameras, phones, video etc... i basically have it tell me what;s going on and when there are problems... vs me actively running it all. anyway i have been happy with napco its pretty simple but i am intrigued by Elk... seen it at trade shows, online... would and MIg and HS be overkill? or could i do more things. like what... thanks

If you are happy with your system overall reliability and performance now, then switching to Elk might not be justified. The Elk is MUCH easier to configure, but since you have already crossed that bridge, it is somewhat irrelevant. If you are out of inputs/zones and/or outputs, then expanding to an Elk would offer new capabilities. If you weren't already running HS Pro, then the Elk would offer more features than the Napco.

+1 - had a 9600 in my old house, am planning to put an M1 in my new house just because it seems to have a little more HA functionality "within the box" and DIY support seems better. I don't think I would have ripped out my 9600 to put in an M1 though. I was very happy with it once I got it running and it did pretty much everything that was needed, and HS covered the rest.
