Two-Way Audio/Voice Alarm Module / 5.7e?

Will the addition of the 2 way voice module Model 10A11-1, Rev B allow voices / say commands to be heard on my 5.7e touchscreens? I noticed the touch screens have mic / speakers but is looks like the module is designed to hardwire the speakers / mic to rather than communicate through LAN. I couldn't find any info in the downloadable literature. And if not, what are the speakers / mic in the 5.7e used for?

The speaker on the 5.7e can play sounds which are tied to events in page definitions. I haven't played with this yet, so I don't know anything else about it. Last I heard, they were working on two-way voice for the 5.7e via the voice module, but the primary target was to be able to use it for voice comm with the central station.

At this point no. You are right that the touch screens do have mics and speakers in it but I think that will be used for new features in the near future...

I'm also very interested in this. I have two 5.7e's, and assumed that I could play system announcements through the speakers. Any idea on the timeline for this functionality, and whether it will require a separate speaker connection (as with the consoles) or will be done through the existing Cat5 connection?

Thanks -

Patrick

There are no plans in the works for this. You have to use a seperate Speaker/Mic module connected to the Voice Board with 4-conductor shielded wire.
