UPB switches wiring question

A simple question related to UPB wiring:

- for 2-way switches do I need to use UPB devices on each end or can I have UPB on one side and a matching "regular" 240v switch on the other end?

Also - I presume that when wiring for 2-way UPB switches you won't need a "strap" between them?

thanks

For my 2 way and 3 way set ups I use 1 regular UPB switch then an extra 1 or 2 or 3 (however many switchs you need) auxillary switchs. The Aux switches send on and off commands to the UPB switch vis the "carrier" wire.

No, you cant use a "regular" switch. It has to be a upb switch. the reason is because it's not really a 3 way wiring anymore. You basically wire the boxes as if you were putting outlets in them, then send the "switched" wire directly from the master switch to the light (usually going through the second box).

If by strap you mean a jumper from the hot to one traveler then no, again, there really is no travelers anymore.
