for the past couple months i've been teaching myself vb.net. i started off creating an app to interface HAL and xPL. then i added a scripting engine, serial port support, gcal event extraction and the latest was VR command of slimserver. i've posted a short clip of it controlling slimserver on my blog http://kjsdoghouse.blogspot.com/2008/03/xp...slimserver.html
HAL has always had excellent VR (it easily understands my 4 year old), but it's always suffered from limited expandability (if it's not included in the box, too bad) and painful point and click logic building. and that's always limited how i've used it in my setup. but my app has made it much more useful so that my wife will actually use VR now
it's still only used for VR in our system - our main software is still starCOMUltra - but they can now communicate 'directly' through xPL. (i built another app to link objects/events starCOMUltra to xPL)
