Waterproofing (epoxy/silicone) on DS18S20 _after_ heat shrinking

Hi, I've already heat shrunk my outdoor temp sensor quite a while back but would like to "waterproof" it to protect from the occasional torrential rains we get here in Houston. I have googled and found that epoxy or silicone seems to be the way to go. Which way is best, what are the advantages/disadvantages? Also, I already soldered & heat shrunk it a while back and don't really want to redo with a new sensor (which I don't have at the moment), can I just apply one or the other over the heat shrink tubing or will this not work and why not?

Thank you
Misha

Cut the old heat shrink off and dip it in that crap you dip tools in. They sell it in most hardware stores, it's red used to have an infomercial. The stuff does work for this we do it to out wiring harnesses in our Jeeps to waterproof the connections.

Dunno how it would effect accuracy but I assume not positively. :)

Lowes and Home depot carry it by Me.

Plasti Dip

I use it on all my wiring and sensors outside. Even my 1-wire temp sensor that is in the pool 365 days a year, this will be the 3rd season.
No problems.

You can get it at any electrical supply shop. Ask for "liquid electrical tape"

Just be warned --> the stuff is NASTY (do not use it indoors)
