Whats a good Elk motion sensor?

I love Bosch Blue Light motion sensors. $22, and look so nice that I took out my perfectly functional but ugly ADT ones.

I've had good success with the Ademco Aurora motion sensors. They are small and clean looking. Plus they are cheap!

I have 10 Sentrol PI6000s and love them. I have only had them installed for 8 months, but they are working great so far.

I am in the process of specifying an M1 system. Compatible motion detectors are a little confusing (I understand there is a list...somewhere!). Are the Sentrol PI6000s and other hard wired units mentioned here easily integrated for the electrically challenged without confusing workarounds?

Sorry to go a bit off topic, but I didn't think it was worth a whole new thread!

There really is no such thing as a 'compatible' motion detector (PIR) per se. They all work pretty much the same, just like a regular zone contact. So you can pretty much use any typical PIR. Just 2 wires for the zone and 2 for power. There are fancier setups with tampers, etc but that's the basics.

Thanks for your help. Last dumb question: So the Elk compatibility list (in some manual somewhere) is just a guideline?

I'm not aware of any compatibility list for PIR's, you would have to give me a link. Are you sure you are not thinking about smoke detectors, or wireless devices?

It may well have been wireless sensors, since I think the list did not include Elk's own wireless motion detectors...but I can't find the reference. In any event, I'm opting for hardwired and appreciate your helping me on my way.
