Good evening everyone,

First, let me thank this community. I have learned so much from just lurking.

I am getting ready to change home made whole home audio solution to a real quality system and I am considering a Russound CAV6.6 and was wondering if you guys had any feedback on where to purchase the CAV6.6 (amp only) at a reasonable price. To make things even more iteresting, I am in Canada.

Or, do you have any other suggestions ? An alternate product I should look at ?

Thanks in advance

Do you need video switching or just audio? How many zones? Will 20 watts per channel do it for you? How many sources will you be switching? Will you be integrating with an automation controller?

Hi Berg,

Russound restricts internet sales of their products so the result is that Russound won't provide any support or warranty for products purchased on-line. Some of the on-line resellers will provide their own warranty which matches the Russound warranty, but any support or required warranty work would have to be channeled back through the place of purchase. Basically any website were you can purchase Russound gear using a shopping cart will fall into the above category so make sure you understand the warranty implications before purchase.

There are also authorized sites that allow you to purchase Russound equipment with the Russound warranty. These sites generally bend the rules by making you call or email for pricing and to place the order. These types of purchases should include the factory warranty, but you'll need to ask to be certain. A few of the websites I've looked at have very deceptive or misleading information about the warranty so you need to ask questions or read carefully to ensure that you're buying products that include the Russound warranty.

If you haven't already, also take a look at the NUVO products which are very similar in features and functionality. Both NUVO and Russound have been well received in the automation community so there's lots of integration options with security/automation controllers like the HAI OmniPro and Elk M1 as well as with software applications like HomeSeer, Cinemar, CQC, etc. If you wish to access MP3's on a computer and control them from the Russound or NUVO keypads, there is an inexpensive application from CasaTools that provides this functionality as well as a nice web interface for music control:http://www.casatools.com/Products.aspx

Cheers,
Paul
