So I'm thinking about getting a new macbook, but I'll want to dual boot it with windows. Does anybody know where I can still get a copy of windows xp?

You may want to hurry on getting XP, I read that XP is at its End of Life on Jan 31st and you might not be able to buy it after that.

I believe the end of life simply means that MS is not creating any new disks. But resellers will be able to continue selling it until MS has no more copies. While that is certainly a finite period of time, you most certainly will be able to buy it after 1-31-09. From what I've read, it seems that copies will be available for quite a while in fact. But knowing exactly when the last copy will be sold is kinda like knowing when this economy will turn around - it's anyone's guess. :)

I recommend VMware Fusion over dual booting with Bootcamp (If that's what you're thinking). I've found Fusion's speed to be as good as running XP native. I use XP for VS 2008 only and have no problems compiling/developing using it in a virtual session. Fusion's Unity mode makes an XP app appear as if it's a semi-native Mac app on the mac desktop.

As to the availability of XP; while you probably shouldn't wait too long, I would think copies will still be in the channels for some time to come.

I expect the discs to sell out fast, I know there are lots of people who don't like Vista, I know I don't. From what I read OEMs can still get it shipped after the Jan 31st cutoff but they have to order it by Jan 31st. Some Vista versions will have downgrade rights to install XP also.
