HAI HIFI2 Audio not compatible with iOS8

Hello,

First time post,

I am a developer, I just built 32 town homes near Hesperia, CA and am working on a new building project up north. Unfortunately I installed the HAI HIFI2 system in our town house development and now it comes to my knowledge that Leviton does not support HAI HIFI2 and iOS8 is not compatible. Before I submit refunds to home-owners, is there anyone else with similar issues? Has there been a fix for it?

I have 8x8 zone with cat6 wiring connected to the HAI board, is it possible to replace it with a different audio unit?

I've contacted Leviton regarding, and they have not provided any knowledge or assistance. More and more I contact them, seems like they arenot interested in helping.

Welcome to Cocoontech Larry.

it comes to my knowledge that Leviton does not support HAI HIFI2

The HAI HIFI2 is still on the Leviton Website.  HAI PCA (PC Accesss) management configuration software runs in Microsoft Windows.

Audio hardware controller access works fine via the HAI Omnipro touchscreens and HAI Snap-link Mobile for iPhone and Android.

The product family includes a basic Four Zone, Four Source (4x4) distributed audio system, or an Eight Zone, Eight Source (8x8) system that is expandable to 16x8. Use the HAI Dock to share your iPod/iPhone music over a wired or wireless network, and distribute the audio using HAI's Hi-Fi 2, or systems by HAI's Connectivity Partners.

Thinking (not totally sure) that Haiku will run on iOS8.

Haiku Automation for HAI

You can ask HAI HIFI2 and Haiku support questions here on Cocoontech under Marketplace / Home Automation, Inc and Haiku sections of the forum.

I am a bit curious what made you decide / purchase / install (impetus) said Leviton product(s) in your new home development?

I am using the HiFi2 by HAI straight. No other automation is being used, just audio. I have a apple airplay connected to the HAI as a source and I was using Iphones to control music through airplay.

That was before the release of iphone 6 and ios8. Now it does not work, i can not change a source, the free HAI HIFI2 App just freezes.

The low voltage company I used scammed me, installed these HAI boards and ensured me they would work with all iOS updates.

Yup; typically (?) said low voltage company selling Leviton / HAI stuff  is trained by Leviton / HAI and are obi wan kenobi's of their wares and support.

Martin above is one of those folks.  Give him a call.

I like the footprint of the HiFi2 stuff.  Here use Russound (well on a rack).

Larryloews - Leviton can be slow to update their apps.  They'll likely fix it sometime, but who knows how long that may be.  If you end up having to swap the systems for another mfg, you can likely recoup some of the money by selling the HiFi2 systems.  A lot of people use them from their Omnipro systems, so the IOS app control isn't as important to them.

Apple released the Dev kit for ios8 and iphone6 back in January of 2014. appreviewtimes, shows you every app that has been submitted for review  and what stage it is on to be released on the app store. Roughly 600 apps every two weeks. There has been nothing about HiFi2 or HAI, in the past two months and nothing about HiFi2 since November 2012. The current review time is 4 days.

Whats worse, seems like its a lot of people online with the same issue, the review for this app is horrible. 1 out of 5 stars.

Another option you have is to add a Leviton Omni II LT controller board, which will let you use Haiku, run the HiFi system, as well as provide the ability to do some home control as well.  Lighting, locks, etc.  It's also a UL rated alarm panel.

Probably in the range of ~1000 a unit installed for basic functionality.
