I have one keypad connected. i also have a handful of window / door / smoke / motion and window break sensors. Does it get hooked up just like one of those? man, i'd feel like an idiot if that was the case. It's been probably 5 years since i hooked up the elk and i ahvent done anything with it...
i guess i dont understand which terminals they would go to. Thats what i thought i was saying in my last post... taking cat cables and running from the (+VKP, Data A, Data B, NEG) of J1 to the M1XSLZW.
Thanks. So your suggested method would require me to buy yet another addon for this? I really dont want to spend more on this since what i want to accomplish is very simple. i just want some control over my lights. Can i use J1 or J2 permanently and just use some cat5 to go between the two?
i just got my M1XSLZW and went to hook it up to my elk m1g. From what i can figure out i have to connect it to J1 or J2 data bus (right?). I also got the usb installer key and the Leviton Vizia RF+ Plug-In Serial (RS232) Interface Module.
I'm surprised that nothing came with what i actually...
awesome, thanks. Is that all i'll need to get zwave and elk talking? is there something about an installation usb dongle i need? Sorry, my memory is smokey...
i had a house fire, ran a bunch of home automation stuff (zwave and elk) and then lost interest. it's now 2 years later and i want to finish it up. I have a VRC0P bookmarked as the next thing i need to get zwave going but I remember not buying it because some new/better version was being...
When i connect to the elk, it gets to the Synchronizing Getting Version: window then times out and shoots a java error like:
socketTimeOutException Read timed out Read Timed Out.
every few times it shoots a different error up.
The errors are quite quick to try to write down.
Any thoughts?
Hi, I just bought the app... Looking forward to using it. I have a question/request. I have a denon avr 2808 stereo receiver that can accept commands over network... is there any possibility something like that could be implemented?
Correct, $200 does not include drives. do you have a board you'd recommend? As long as i can stream HD over gigabit i dont care about anything else.
I came to $201 for a Ion board, psu and some ram... No case though...
I am looking to build a barebones NAS that will run CQC and be able to stream my files to XBMC. low power and 4+ sata ports are my only requirements... It's been a long time since i bought hardware so i dont really know what i'm looking for. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I think that whats happening is that Alarm 1 goes off, then there is a slight delay until elk tells alarms 2 and 3 to go off. Alarm one finishes it's test sequence but alarm 2 and 3 are still going off so elk doesn't know that alarm 1 is done testing.
i think that may be what you're saying?
Thanks very much for the help. I really appreciate it.
Ok, so i turned off Elk, turned it on and brought up status screen.
Zone 16 State: EOLR (=)
held test button on smoke detector. all smoke detectors went off (and killed my ear drums)
normally they shut off after two cycles of beeps...
Ok, so i have my final inspection tomorrow and the last thing i have to do is get my smoke detectors sounding together. Any help is gratefully appreciated.
EDIT: I took a picture with my 40d so hopefully the diagram is a bit better.
I have 2 wire smoke detectors as well as the PRM-2w which is...
I have one smoke detector i'm trying to wire up. I have it so that it chirps when i test it (not sure if it's supposed to chirp or full sound) but then it does a loud 'beep' every 50 seconds which the manual says is ' other fault / trouble' or 'test switch -failed'. It does report an alarm to...
