Keeping Multiple WC8 Boards Straight: Hostname Representation/Network Appearance?

Successfully updated the board using the linux command line tftp. Figured out to use binary mode transfer and once I got that going it loaded OK. Loaded up the webgui OK as well, 1wire and digital/analog I/O all seem to be back to what they were.   One problem - in the process somehow the MAC...

Keeping Multiple WC8 Boards Straight: Hostname Representation/Network Appearance?

Thanks for the quick turnaround! I was able to successfully upgrade my newest board and all looks well there.   Unfortunately, the upgrade went bad on my original HW 2.2.2 board (installed on the ceiling of my garage at the time).   I did the http://192.168.xx.xx/api/bootloader.cgi?start and...

Keeping Multiple WC8 Boards Straight: Hostname Representation/Network Appearance?

Hi, tried searching the forum to see if this has been covered already but came up empty.   Now that I have a second WC8 board, I'm sometimes having difficulty keeping them straight. Noticed that:   The browser tab "title" value always shows the same name, regardless of the "NetBIOS Name" entry...

    WC8 PLC 3.02.19 firmware

Ross, thanks for your replies. Both worked for me.   CAI_Support, I understand your reasoning and see that this in fact documented well in the current manual. I actually mis-spoke the first time, it was the FAQ which led me to believe the default state was for DHCP to be enabled. Per the current...

    WC8 PLC 3.02.19 firmware

I just received a new HW Rev 2.2.2 board delivery direct from CAI and it has this firmware revision on it. Is it actually released or in beta at this point?   Have run into some issues. 1) It came with DHCP disabled and if the board is reset, reverts to that state with the fixed 192.168.1.15...

    WC8: Weak OP1, simple debug/fix?

Thanks, I've marked up this photo of my solution to show the chip I think you mean. In the meantime since my original post I went ahead and put the board into service using the other channels. I'll take a look at this once the weather warms up once again - the board is mounted high up on the...

Examples for securing/fortifying WC8 towards internet access?

Thanks for the replies! Combining the IP host filter (set to the other server address) with the https secured page will probably then be my solution.   CAI_Support - does the IP address filter support wildcards or whole block allowance? E.g.: setting to 192.168.1.0 or 192.168.1.* or similar to...

Examples for securing/fortifying WC8 towards internet access?

Have a WC8 now set up as a "Garage Management System" and I would like to enable internet control securely. It is currently off the network. I know the board is not recommended to be directly connected to the internet, so I am curious as to how others have done this... a simple search has not...

    WC8: Weak OP1, simple debug/fix?

Have a WC8 board that appears to be producing weak current on OP1. Did my original prototyping with other outputs and then caught this after connecting up the complete solution - it did not trigger the same relay board which other channels do. Tried it also with a LED and it just barely glows on...

    Output a beep

Thanks. Sounds like just inverting the output will be the easiest solution for now, but if I have a slot left on my relay board when I'm done that will be the long term one.

    Output a beep

I just received one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/small-3-3V-5V-Active-Buzzer-Alarm-Module-Sensors-/251165904421 and it seems to work fine. You can't beat the cost, I think the parts alone would be more than the assembly. Unfortunately, there is no current spec on the listing so I don't know...
