AlarmRelay DSC Sur-gard (ANSI/SIA DC-09-2007 IP reporting) security

It looks like ANSI/SIA DC-09-2007 standard contains two security features. The Elk M1XEP DSC Sur-gard configuration seems to match features outlined in standard.
  • Fixed encryption using pre-shared keys - the XEP has an optional checkbox to enter a PSK
  • MAC address reporting - this is an optional field in protocol
It would be interesting to see if AlarmRelay supports these features and Elk reports its XEP’s MAC address.

I can't comment for AR, however any CS that has Sur-gard receivers or virtual receivers generally support these features, if they implement the security aspect.

I, however wouldn't hold out for AR acting on these in a manner expected, as I hear many end users here comment regarding their lack of response on failed heartbeats.

That is a function of the communications route and hardware, not the panel 90% of the time. You can have an "old" standard panel and put a compliant internet communicator on it or do the same with a new panel.
