Today, at the Electronic House Expo (EHX) Fall 2006 trade show, Embedded Automation announced its upcoming release of mControl v2 (Home Edition) for Windows Vista. mControl is software for controlling the “digital home†and supports leading home management technologies like Z-Wave and INSTEON. The new release will be previewed within the Windows Media Center Pavilion at EHX (Booth #1317F).

In addition to providing the full functionality found in mControl v1 (Home Edition), mControl v2 (Home Edition) provides a new user interface option which leverages the high-fidelity graphics capabilities of Microsoft Vista’s Media Center. As before, mControl users will also be able to utilize Internet browsers like Internet Explorer 7.0 and Firefox to monitor and manage their systems outside the Media Center environment.

“Our new user interface is a Windows Media Center Presentation Layer Application and as such, is highly-integrated within the Vista Media Center experience and will allow our customers to use mControl in high-definition graphics fidelity everywhere in their home. Furthermore, the responsiveness and experience on Vista-generation Media Center Extenders, like the XBox 360, are just as good as the Media Center PC itself.†said Ted Singh, Business Development Manager of Embedded Automation. “With the quality and choices in user interfaces and the broad range of device support, mControl is a perfect fit for Custom Installers and OEMs looking to add value to their Media Center solutions.â€

mControl v2 is scheduled for public beta in December 2006, with a release coordinated with the general release of Microsoft Vista. mControl v2 (Home Edition) will be a free upgrade for mControl v1 (Home Edition) customers.
