You didn't want to use something like Voip (Asterix) and some IP phones (tons out there like the Cisco 7940). Esp. if you do PoE, you don't even need to run power out to them.

I have a Skype line as CO2 on my TA-824. So available communication from the house includes POTS, IP, and cell. Certainly overkill. The tenant in our attached apartment doesn't want anything other than her cell phone.
