Smoke Detectors, 2-wire vs. 4-wire

I did not install sounders on my smokes. I did not see the purpose, when the alarm will notify of the emergency already. Am I missing something?

 
 
Your inspector may not agree with you.  I believe code requires a sounder inside of each sleeping area, so your general house siren will probably not satisfy him.  But who knows, each area does there own thing.

We have dual system. 120v. that meets code. the 12volt system is a secondary, 1/floor system.
 
I just remembered that I was worried of two sounders working at same time and confusion of occupants.
