Just wanted to add my personal experience.
When I built an addition on our current house, the inspector had the same question about 120v smokes. I pointed out that our FACP is 120v powered with battery backup, and therefore, the smokes connected to it are also.
He agreed and we have a sweet system now, without unnecessary duplicate smoke detectors.
