X10 and lightbulbs blowing

Those bayonet lights seem to fail quickly.  In a previous house, I got tired of replacing them all the time so I went to LED and 6-7 years later, I still drive by that house and see my original bulbs (unless the new homeowner found the same source which I doubt).
 
Lighting isn't cheap - I have a big house with 70+ switches but it's still my favorite feature of the house.
