Premise How to change Builder's startup URL.

Upon startup, Premise Builder attempts to display a page from Motorola's web-site. The destination no longer exists so Builder's current startup page is an Error 404 message ... useless.

You can replace the startup URL with something useful like:

• Your Premise Server's URL so can see your home's UI.
• The URL of the Premise Home Control forum here on Cocoontech. (http://www.cocoontech.com/index.php?showforum=51)
• A blank page (about:blank); not useful but neater than an error page.

Instructions

1. Download and install XN Resource Editor (free).
2. Ensure Builder is not running.
3. Using XN Resource Editor, open C:\Program Files\Premise\SYS\bin\psysui.dll.
4. In the lefthand pane, open String Table > 2056 > English (United States)
5. In the righthand pane, find the ID key 32885 in the first column.
6. The key's value is "http://www.premisesystems.com/sys21.htm". Replace it with your preferred URL.
7. In the main menu, select File > Save followed by File > Exit.

Changed my startup screen last night to my home's home page (http://localhost). Easy as pie! Thanks for the tip. Keep them coming!

I'll add my own: if you navigate away and want to come back, choose "Start Page" under the Help menu.
