ELK - Added MDBH, lost Keypad. Why?

Well, just to provide closure here... I managed to get everything working. I would put this in the "I am an F-ing idiot" category. I checked the wiring at the keypad maybe 5 times and pronounced it good. I finally gave up and went to rewire it thinking that one of my crimps might be bad...

ELK - Added MDBH, lost Keypad. Why?

OK, so I took the keypad out of the system which left just the DBH with the Elk wireless receiver attached to the DBH via Cat5. At the controller, that measured 40 Ohms. When I added the keypad into the mix (attached to the DBH via Cat5 - with a new RJ45 connector), that dropped to 3 Ohms...

ELK - Added MDBH, lost Keypad. Why?

There are only two things hooked up right now to the DBH. The ELK Wireless receiver is connected via cat5 to the DBH. It powers on and appears to be working. ElkRP recognizes it and all is well. The second item is the keypad in question. It is also connected via cat5. Just so I am clear...

ELK - Added MDBH, lost Keypad. Why?

I decided to upgrade my wireless from a Caddx to the ELK system. This required adding a data hub to the mix. Previously, my two keypads had both been homerun to the panel and connected to the panel. I wired up the DBH without any problem. I wired the wireless controller without any problem...

    ELK Wireless help needed... bad...

Well... That's not the "just click here and everything will be OK" response I was looking for. I do have the Caddx Nx-4XX receiver and I am using the latest firmware that supports Caddx (vs the ELK solution). Now that it look slike I have to buy new transmitters, can the NX-4xx board work...

    ELK Wireless help needed... bad...

I am in the process of replacing an ADT type wireless system with an ELK M1 Gold panel and Caddx 48-zone wireless card. Throughout my house, I have these transmitters on each of the doors that I'd like to save and use. I know they work because they worked with the previous system. So, I have...

    ELK or Omni

Spanky - Will the ELK z-wave module be 2-way with the HAI z-wave thermostats? Is there a better lighting system out there to use with the ELK? Insteon? UPB? Thanks.

    ELK or Omni

Spanky - Thank for the link. That is very helpful. It looks like the Omni may be a little more flexible, but I'm not sure its in areas that I will use. There were two things that caught my eye that you might be able to shed some light on. It looked like the ELK did not have a atomic clock so...

    ELK or Omni

How is the programming language between the two? Is one easier than the other or more capable? I had an Omni in my former house and it worked flawlessly. But, that's not to say there's not a better mousetrap out there.

    ELK or Omni

Long time reader, first time poster... I just recently moved and need to install a new alarm system in my new house. I am trying to weigh the pro's and con's of the ELKM1Gold versus an HAI Omni Pro II. Obviously the Omni is more expensive. However, if you get a meaningful benefit from going...
