    More LED bulb options

The Luminus C-UPR63M Can-light LED retrofit kits are selling fast at Costco. Several of the nearby Costco stores were already sold out. Hopefully, they will get a new shipment soon.   They are actually made by a company called Conglom out of canada which also makes lots of other non-lighting...

    Latest UPStart

Thanks, JonW. This was a hidden link that you would not find if you didn't know it was there. The new System designer turns out to be a wizard that lets you "Quickly" enter a UPB specification...as long as you are using all PCS parts! I'm not sure if this is really faster than the normal method...

    Latest UPStart

Has anyone seen the latest version of the UPB UPstart software 5.4? The latest version I've found is 5.2 build 24 from the Web Mountain website. Other versions from PCS, HAI and SA are older. However, looking at the PCS training calendar, they held a webinar on October: Has anyone been able...

    Minimum dim level

One of the issues I'm looking closely at for my new HA project is the minimum dim level, especially for the lights in my bedroom. Ideally, I'd like lights to ramp up very slowly (over perhaps 1/2 hour) to create an "artificial sunrise" which helps me wake at a certain time regardless of the time...

UPB, Z-Wave and Insteon - Pushing the limits

Picta, The HAI Omnibus system looks to be designed for European 220 volt systems with USA 110V 60Hz systems being an afterthought. All of their keypads use the square European style and they have nothing that works with Decora-style wall-plates. I think that this system is better suited for...

UPB, Z-Wave and Insteon - Pushing the limits

Thanks, Picta, I took a look at Centralite and I read a lot of documentation. But their website seems to be "stuck" at around 2008 and there seems to be no development since then. Also, there are no dealers or certified installers in my area, which is strange since I live in a major metro area...

UPB, Z-Wave and Insteon - Pushing the limits

Folks, stay on-topic, please! That said, WAF factor IS important and I am (slightly) concerned about UPB's difficulty to flip two adjecent switches at once easily. Lately, I find myself thinking every time I turn on a light switch. It's almost as easy (and mindless) as breathing. If there is...

UPB, Z-Wave and Insteon - Pushing the limits

I still have not gotten any really good feedback from anyone who has a large node home controlled by Z-Wave, and I'm really taken back with the lack of recent UPB activity especially from UPB founder PCS. Is a modern Insteon system worth considering? I see lots of horror stories from early...

UPB, Z-Wave and Insteon - Pushing the limits

So, I see several replies from people with big UPB systems (looks doable) and small/mixed Z-wave systems. However, has anyone really successfully put together a big Z-Wave system? Are the latency issues mentioned in some past posts resolved using newer hardware/software? I'm starting from...

Suggested HA lighting (friend building a home)

I take it back. Somewhere I read that the Lutron Maestro controls only fit their own Claro wall-plates and not any other Decora-style wall plates. However, I cannot find any more information to support this. I would like some confirmation regarding this from someone who has actually tried to mix...

UPB, Z-Wave and Insteon - Pushing the limits

I'm doing a major home remodel and I plan on installing a automated lighting system. After doing lots of research on-line, I'm coming down to either a UPB or Z-Wave system. I like Z-Wave because it looks to be better supported with more active development with a wider range of new devices and...

Suggested HA lighting (friend building a home)

One other problem that I have with Lutron RadioRA2 is their non-standard wall-plates. Sure, they have multi-gang wall plates in several different colors but this pales in comparison to the much larger selection of Decora-style wall plates available which fit other switches. I plan to gang my...

    Missing UPB parts

Just to provide some useful information, I receiced this reply from Warren Lohoff from WGL Designs regarding the UPB572: ---- From: Warren Lohoff [mailto:[email protected]] Subject: RE: UPB572 We also thought that there was a real need for this item, but unfortunately our distributors did not...

    Missing UPB parts

I'm seriously considering installing a UPB system as part of a major remodel. Originally, I was looking at Lutron RadioRA2 but I really like the more open nature of UPB. For example, Lutron switches use non-standard wall-plates and I'm thinking of ganing light switches with other A/V touchpads...
