ELK-WSV You Really Do Need It

Sprinkler valves outside and sprinkler valves inside are two different scenarios. Outside, they are more likely to freeze and crack if installed improperly. Inside, I would hope that is not the case....still makes me nervous, which is why I haven't done it. One other thought that I had was...

ELK-WSV You Really Do Need It

I had been considering the WSV before, but the cost is prohibitive. Has anyone ever installed a sprinkler valve on their water line coming into the house and wired it to a Elk relay? I was thinking that the M1G could look at water sensors and if they were triggered, it could shut the water...

    Door Sensor

Automated Outlet is where I buy all of my gear. Their prices are consistently low and they have good tech support. As for hardwiring doors and windows, can't help you. My house was finished when I moved in, so I went wireless. I used the GE NX-458 on the top of my doors and GE NX-454 on my...

Motion sensor for a hallway -- difficult situation

The manual shows it being able to be mounted on the wall (see introduction section under Spy4). http://www.smarthome.com/manuals/7488.pdf

Starting down the home security\automation\integration path..

Right now my system is pretty simple, just security with a bit of automation to auto arm/disarm. I am budget constrained, so only work on a bit at a time. Since I still have some more work to do on the security side before I can start looking at automation , I haven't looked into PC versus Elk...

Starting down the home security\automation\integration path..

The two biggest n00b mistakes that I made were: 1) splitting my speaker wires in the attic and basement instead of right at the control box. If I would have ran all of the speakers to the control box, then I would have more options for changing what is in parallel and series to keep my ohms...

Starting down the home security\automation\integration path..

I definately wanted a hardware solution for my security system, but also a bit of automation. Based on this, I chose the ELKM1G. I put in my system about 2 years ago and absolutely love it. It is very reliable, even though I had what I considered tough installation requirements from the wife...

Motion sensor for a hallway -- difficult situation

Have you tried a spy4? It is a very low profile ceiling mounted curtain. I have mine pointed stright down in a hallway going to our living room. I don't see why you couldn't aim this anyway to see fit. You may even be able to mount it above the door at the end of the hall and aim it slightly...

    ELK Burglar interior zone question

Can you set up the gun safe as a seperate zone and use rules to arm and disarm based on the the main zone alarm status?

    Outdoor Equipment & Cold Temperatures

I don't know much about this, but can you put relays on the trigger wires and have them automatically shut-off if the outdoor temperature is below a certain point? This way you wouldn't have to fret over it constantly. Also, connecting a small light bulb in the enclosure and placing the camera...

    Elk Output to Trigger Alarm

I have read about creating an alarm condition in the Elk-M1G by turning on an output which triggers an input, but wasn't sure how the wiring is physically done. I know this is a n00b question, but any help you can give would be appreciated. The application is that I am trying to use a hallway...
