    IP Camera Options?

Thanks for all the info.  Do these Hikvision doorbells only support RTSP streaming, not ONVIF?  From what I have read, RTSP streaming is scaled down and does not provide the full resolution of the camera like ONVIF does.

    IP Camera Options?

Although I've already hard-wired everything in my home that isn't mobile, the doorbell camera may end up being an exception due to the specific challenges of wiring door panels.  Or running wires on the surface of exterior walls.   Why did you change to Hikvision firmware from the version that...

    IP Camera Options?

I'm faced with a conundrum here.  Mounting the doorbell on the wall with the 24VAC doorbell wires provides a side view, which isn't ideal but will be supplemented by a "real" IP camera.  Mounting the doorbell facing the street, for a face-on view of the visitor requires mounting on the door side...

    IP Camera Options?

I'm looking to start a small h265 4K POE camera system with night vision, and would like self-host storage and remote access.  I have a windows machine with a RAID array for storage, and will probably run Blue Iris, although I have also heard of ZoneMinder and Shinobi.  For remote access I can...

    IP Camera Options?

While I do like Ubiquiti and use their switch and wireless AP, they have been known for a lack of software quality control and releasing software bugs - much to the chagrin of their customers.  Their more-mature networking gear suffers less from software buggery today, but has been flawed in the...

connectors and mounting for daisy-chain Elk M1 gold

I do intend to add a Z-wave interface to my Yale touch-screen deadbolt for the purpose of disarming.  And then look into home automation software, IP camera recording, etc.  Which I would want to have access to the same Z-wave deadbolt.

connectors and mounting for daisy-chain Elk M1 gold

One last question, the M1KP2 directions make a reference to termination, but it is not entirely clear how this is done.  Do I just jumper the two pins near the 6-wire connector?

connectors and mounting for daisy-chain Elk M1 gold

Thanks for the info.  It sounds like I will not have any need to preserve a length of CAT6 to daisy chain future devices.  I can connect directly to the Elk M1G at any time in the future as there is conduit into t he attic to chase wires from the alarm.  I have no plans for a second keypad or...

connectors and mounting for daisy-chain Elk M1 gold

Hi,   I'm trying to assemble my alarm and am running into some mounting and wiring questions.  First, is there a good connector and/or method of daisy-chaining devices on the RS-485 bus?  I would prefer not to cut the CAT6 wires.  At the moment I only have an M2P keypad to connect using CAT6.  I...

Elk M1 power for glass break and motion detectors

Hi,   I'm new to the Home Security and Automation hobby, and have a question about setting up my Elk M1 gold alarm with 6 each Visonic Glasstech glass break detectors (9 - 16V at 20 mA) and 1 each Bosch Blue Line Gen2 ISC-BDL2-WP12G motion detector (9 - 16V at 10 mA).  I will also have a total...
