    wifi z-wave door lock?

Looks like they all require a z-wave hub best I can tell.  In this case, what would be the least expensive solution?  I think the ISY might be overkill for this application.  I don't plan on adding much else being a rental.  I want to keep it simple.  The Vera looks like it might be a simple...

    wifi z-wave door lock?

Just bought a vacation home that I will be renting on airbnb or similar.  Im looking to install a door lock so that I can create and deactivate codes remotely and view access logs.  I think pretty much all of them are capable of this but the info on the websites are so dumbed down that I can't...

Rule to turn on output on M1KAM not working

My switch was the wrong state, NO instead of NC.  I was thinking that it would still function in reverse, lock when I pushed the button, unlock when I release the button.  But because of the DHO timer this wasnt happening and my button has a built in timer so I wasnt even able to hold it in for...

Rule to turn on output on M1KAM not working

Did you ever resolve this?  Same issue for me.  DMM shows that state never changes except when I pull power from the bus which tells me the relay is functioning but something is holding the relay in the energized state when powered.  Searched all over RP to figure out what it might be but can't...

Access Control Electrified Lockset- for exterior gate

Right when I thought I had my mind made up, I came across this little guy: https://www.locinox.com/en-gb/locinox/eu/locks/swing-gates/lekqu4?returnurl=%2fen-gb%2flocinox%2feu%2flocks%2fswing-gates%2f%23lekqu4   Looks promising as it is made for outdoor gates.  I think this would be the simplest...

Access Control Electrified Lockset- for exterior gate

Thanks for the feedback.  I'll consider a push button or similar to replace the PIR.  Forgive my ignorance, what is the supervisory relay for?  Is this just to check the door status to make sure it's not opened when it shouldnt be?

Access Control Electrified Lockset- for exterior gate

What I meant was I would leave the strike locked full time. This would negate the need for an auxiliary method to keep the gate closed.   Alarm armed - Instead of having the M1 actually lock the strike, I would simply have it deactivate the outside PIR.  No entry from the outside and free escape...

Access Control Electrified Lockset- for exterior gate

Heres another option: http://www.trineonline.com/en400.php   leave strike locked full time. inside will always open via normal lever   outside, use pir which is active when alarm is disarmed and deactivate PIR when alarm is armed.  Add keypad to disarm.

Access Control Electrified Lockset- for exterior gate

The more I think about the complexity of that I'm not sure what the reliability benefit would be.  There are a lot more pieces to the puzzle. The thumb latch REX wouldnt be normal because it's available to both sides.  The inside override would be more like a traditional REX.  I suppose it would...

Access Control Electrified Lockset- for exterior gate

I couldnt find anything about the handsets being waterproof either.  The reason I thought it would work is because the local access control company installed two at my work.  Both are outside and very exposed.  More exposed than mine in fact.  The fences at work are expanded metal where mine are...

Access Control Electrified Lockset- for exterior gate

Everything I've seen so far (electric strikes, maglocks, electric bolts) would require a secondary latch in order to keep the gate closed while unlocked.  This would be needed to prevent wind from swinging the gate open and closed.  I could use the existing thumb latch.  The problem is that...

replace 120 vac Smoke Detectors, voltages, protocols, 2-wire, 4-wire, options?

My house is wired with 120vac smoke detectors.  I'm going to be installing an ELK system shortly.  Although my current smokes are interconnected, I do not believe that I can connect them to the ELK without an additional module.  If so, what is the preferred method?   Are there any 120VAC smoke...

    transformer based speaker selector

Oops! Brain Fart! 4 - 8Ω speakers in parallel is 2Ω, not 32Ω. The picture is a little more grim with that correction. Assuming the amp puts out 100w @ 8Ω, that would be 28.3V. Now run that the other way, 2:1 stepdown, I will end up with 2Ω, 100w (25 per speaker) but my voltage will only be...

    transformer based speaker selector

I already have multizone. This is simply one of the zones in my multi-zone setups. These speakers will always be playing the same source and I don't need to control the volume independently. I'm aware that they sell impedance matching speaker switches, I have one, I've dissected it, and...
