It arrived yesterday and I think I discovered that. I have two versions of software on my android. One is called Brillion and the other is called Geospring. Neither connect so I am back to using my relay.
Thanks, I will look at that some more. I did buy the greenbean, but haven't made the shlep with my laptop to the garage to test it.
Update: I did connect it and found that it uses command level queries to do anything. I am not up to the steep learning curve for that at this moment.
I did...
I couldn't even find an ACM interface anywhere when I looked a few months ago. I do have a smart meter, but I think it speaks zigbee and or some powerline language.
The only thing I was worried about was the electronics booting up once a day vs. two or three times in a normal year. Also, I have heard there are mechanical issues with a vacuum pump/compressor cycling too quickly. My application is on for six hours and off for several days when the alarm is...
On another thread I posted a similar question about automating a geospring. I am doing what Mikefamig cautions against. I also have concerns about turning it off snd on, but found no better alternative. I use a OmniIIe to close a 30 amp relay. The water heater runs only from midnite to 6am when...
Mikefamig,
Yes, they are not for every one. A lot of factors to consider, including rates per kWh. It is nice to have choices and hopefully this thread will help others make better informed choices.
I use Elk relays to control my water heater and recirc pump in my garage. They have diodes to protect the Omni outputs. That way I also keep extraneous other power sources out of my panel enclosure.
They also have LEDs, which made diagnosing my programming easier.
Clarification: I only use the...
I still believe that heat pumps are more economical based on the following comments on the Energy Star site:

My geospring is quiet. At another place I had a retrofit one and it was noisy and had some low frequency vibrations.
I also think they are more efficient than traditional heating element water heaters. My measure of efficiency is kWhrs consumed for each btu of heat output. Based on Energy Star...
I just replaced an electric water heater with a Geospring hybrid heat pump. I love it and it holds heat so well I run it at night when my rates are lower. It is about $1000 or less when Lowes has a sale.
