Update on ALC Lighting (Previously owned by OnQ Legrand)

I sure am interested. I am traveling this week and not sure if I am back by Friday. But the next week is open. Let me know when you want to start. I would be willing to assist with other Q&A areas as well. Thanks for thinking of me.

Update on ALC Lighting (Previously owned by OnQ Legrand)

Since our purchase of this product line from OnQ in Dec 2009 we have not posted much on CocoonTech. That's because we have been consumed with moving the manufacturing from China (where OnQ had it made) to the USA. Other factors like UL approval and several re-engineering requirements also caused...

HAI Omni Pro II with Onq ALC

1.7 IS THE LATEST. What about the firmware on your OPII? Can't advise on the IR codes but can say that there is no dedicated OnQ legrand IR code. Instead it is a generic code that is probably used by dozens of people and products covering a wide range of IR remotes. For example the IR code for...

HAI Omni Pro II with Onq ALC

If all firmware is latest, then you should have no trouble talking across all branches. As for IR codes, when we purchased the product line from OnQ they had no IR remotes in stock and no plans to remanufacture them. In addition the last engineer to knwo specifics had left the company resulting...

    ALC Extended Dimming problems

There sure is a lot of wisdom being shared by you folks. There is little I can add. As for cable lengths, our test jig has 4 branches with over 100 total ALC switches in use. Branch 4 has over 750' of cat5 used for the communication loop (500' is suggested max for a branch) . We just fired...

    ALC Extended Dimming problems

Both issues may be related. In my experience, it's rare to see two unrelated problems occur in the same system. I'll look for the revision notes and see if any exist for the fix from 1.29 to 1.31

What firmware level do you have?

    ALC Extended Dimming problems

I think the chip is a OTP (One Time Program), and will need to be replaced. Hold on until I test your configuration as the firmware difference may not be a factor. Thanks TS

    ALC Extended Dimming problems

I looked through the notes on the source code for the dimmers and relays. The numbers you have are later, so the source code notes simply don't have the latest rev #s. I will look into the correct rev #s and advise. I know that no firmware has been changed since OnQ let the programmer go about 3...

    ALC Extended Dimming problems

I sent a note to the original programmer to add some wisdom. The intent when migrating from the HLC to the new scene learning interface was among other things to add scene learning support for the 4 button ALC switches. It was my understanding that nothing (feature wise) was left out with the...

Legrand Discontinues the ALC and PLC Lighting Systems!

The SLI (Scene Learning Interface) and the HLC (Home Lighting Controller) are one and the same. Just don't use the scenes (you need the 4 button scene switches anyway). Yes you will always need the SLI. And your configuration is accurate for what you want to do. One SLI can handle 31 ALC...

Legrand Discontinues the ALC and PLC Lighting Systems!

I understood, just wanted all people to see the full picture. I made an assumption that the Ramp over time command (you call it extended) could be limited without a time clock like that found on the HAI/ELK. From your comments, I see that you believe this limitation does not exists. Beelzerob...

Legrand Discontinues the ALC and PLC Lighting Systems!

You can attach the 364614-01 to the Elk or HAI controllers using the 364698-01 serial interface board and a serial port on either controller (plus some cables). On the Elk, this was the way it was done before we created the Elk interface. It was more parts and more money to do it this way. And...
