you can program "Buttons" in HAI that smart things can control those buttons. works like a champ for my garage door opener. i have "mini" programs within HAI that check the current status of the door (open or closed) and activate the output to perform the action that i want.
I'm having exactly the same thoughts and right now trying to integrate smartthings with the HAI investment that I've already made in UPB devices. I'm tired of seeing all the new "flash" stuff and then having to either say "can't do that" or have to come up with some sort of kludge workaround...
As much as I would love to use a Pi or other device that I could fit right into the Omni Can, I'ld have to rate my linux knowledge as less than newbie. I can follow a mean set of do this then that instructions, But I think that I'll try hauling out the old clunker PC and do a fresh windows 7...
Wow, just stumbled across this and as always am flabbergasted at what the home automation community comes up with and shares openly.
I've been frustrated with how HAI seems to get more and more difficult to integrate with new technology/HA and this seems to be the key.
Smarthings hub on...
Looking for an 8-16 zone security panel an HOA pool house. Don't need all the bells and whistles that HAI or ELK provide. Just would like to monitor status, logs of whom accessed via log of codes, email on alarm etc. Don't want to pay for monitoring as it really isn't all that critical more to...
Working on a project where a customer wants to use the HAI water temp sensor to monitor his lake water temp to activate a de-icer pump on the dock this winter. All the HAI parts are in place to control the pump but we are using air temp now which isn't as reliable in figuring out exactly when...
Looks like a good plan, I'll give it a try.
Basically what I am trying to accompish is to run a dock de-icing pump (brings up warmer water from the bottom of the lake) for a certain number of minutes every hour. Also if it's very cold (the "Extreme" portion of the programming) then run it more...
I have a UPB outlet that controls a deicing pump at a lake house. Using the external temp it should be cycling on and off based on temp and time and logging those actions. It's not happening as far as I can tell.
I can turn it on manually, and see it working over the network cams so I know...
Well that's kind of a downer to hear.... I'll have to sniff out the packets and take a peak sometime and see exactly what they are doing.
I've been poking around and opportunistically this device http://www.cocoontech.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15005 was posted in another section. In just a...
Which tells me even more that it is possible to write in as an automation rule.... Good advice and I'll definatally use that in the future, but for the price of one of the touchscreens, I can also have the requisite computer sitting on their counter and avaiable for web surfing etc.
Just because it seems as HAI developers monitor here.. It would be great to be able to have an email send directly from the board as an action in the automation programming. I know that snap link and other software provides this ability, but I’m trying to eliminate the PC operating correctly...
