Looking for touch screen product/solution suggestions

Maybe it's just me but I am not putting a tablet on the wall that has fire in the name.

universal or learning ir/rf remote recommendations?

The Crestron panel takes too long to open the Home Assistant dashboard out of the screensaver, my URC mini touchscreen was ready the second you touched the display, it was cheap so I didn't lose much. I will replace it when I finish my other projects. I most likely will put my URC KP-4000 back...

universal or learning ir/rf remote recommendations?

I saw where some people were using a Raspberry Pi with a POE hat, I did install one of the Crestron panels today, it was an easy swap for my old URC touchscreen.

universal or learning ir/rf remote recommendations?

While looking on Youtube for In-wall touchscreens I saw a video on someone using a Crestron TSS-1060 B S touchscreen for Home Assistant. I found someone selling them on Ebay for $45 with the surface mount mounting bracket, I order a couple to play with and they came yesterday, it seems to be...

The URC KP-4000 touchscreens I have now are even smaller than the NS Panel Pro, they do have Hard buttons surrounding the screen though. I am looking for an around 10"- 12" screen that sets in flush with the wall. I see people recommending Fully Kiosk to run on Android for automation use.

universal or learning ir/rf remote recommendations?

I have been using URC remotes for a very long time, they are not too hard to program but the world is passing by IR only type remotes, they have some newer models but I am no longer interested. I have a couple of the URC MX-6000 remotes with wifi but the screens are low resolution and the...

universal or learning ir/rf remote recommendations?

I am not sure what ones I will go with, they are not normal consumer items so finding lists of available models is harder. I am thinking about contacting this site https://geekland.co/?gad_source=5 to make sure the POE models don't have a battery, right now I am working on some other projects so...

universal or learning ir/rf remote recommendations?

I doubt many people will read this but I received my Remote 2 remote from Unfolded Circle, it was formerly the YIO Remote 2. It has a few quirks right now but it is still being developed, it can do things my URC remotes can't, like integrate with Home Assistant for an example. I also plan on...

    Insteon Is Gone

I am surprised that no one has updated this thread to "Insteon is now back", with new owners. I imagine it will take awhile to get any product in the pipeline, the ongoing chip shortage issues are still a problem but it is a start.

    Insteon Is Gone

Read the comments by Michel Kohanim in this thread from the Universal Devices forum. https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/35839-insteon-smarthome-rob-lilleness-shameful-legacy-and-how-he-killed-insteon/ All hope is not lost.

I have seen warnings, in multiple places that the Latest URC CCP update will require a Dealer Login to run. The remote control options are really drying up for DIY users.

I will probably be backing the Kickstarter for YIO remote two https://www.yio-remote.com/ when it comes out, I have 8 URC  remotes but the newer Total Control remotes use a different programming software that end users can't get. URC will not see another dollar from me now.

    MythTV front end - Pi3, Pi4 or ?

I don't use Myth but it can be used with Kodi as a front end, Kodi runs on pretty much anything but my choice is an Odroid N2 or N2+ SBC running CoreElec. The Odroid N2 is an Amlogic 922X based and has a logical I/o layout unlike a Rasperry Pi, can use EMC memory or a Micro Sd card and has a...

Need New Home NAS - Thinking of Going w/ Synology

I built my own Open Media Vault NAS and use larger hard drives, unfortunately Chia mining has driven the cost of hard drives through the roof recently.
