I have in the past but I will with the new 8 bay n150 box when I get all my drives, I haven't decided yet it what to do with the cold storage box, the Synology uses BTRFS and I am using their version of Raid 6. I will probably use ZFS with 3 drive redundancy on the 8 bay NAS, it will have 8 large capacity hard drives so I will still have a good amount of storage available.
