    Elk keypad light failure

So all of the blue LED's in my Elk M1G keypad (was the newer style in 2010) have burned out one by one over the last 4 years.  The LCD backlight is fine, but the blue LED's illuminating the keys have all burned out over time.  Some of them flickered for awhile on their way out.  The green / red...

New (older) Home with Radionics DS6112 Installed, but Not Turned On: Replace?

When I moved into my current home in 2008, it had some similiar Radionics piece of crap that was working but no longer monitored and we didn't have the code for it or the tools to program it. I replaced it with an Elk M1-Gold. I used all the existing zone contact wiring. For the keypad, I...

    Arduino & Home Automation

I've used an Arduino for a giant spider prop that I built for my halloween display last year. I used a motion sensor to activate and triggered a pneumatic solenoid on and off a few times as well as triggered a sound circuit. Love these things!

About to pull the trigger.... HAI vs Control4?

I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents... Do not even consider Control4 if you have any intention of customizing things yourself. Control4 is designed to be as closed and proprietary as you can get and requires installers for every little thing. I have two relatives that both invested in...

    INsteon Swichlinc 2476d - Won't Stay Lit / On

I have overloaded insteon switches before. What you are describing is different. It actually sounds as if the off microswitch is jammed. This would explain why it fades off after you turn the switch on and when the load flashes and the led starts blinking means it is going into manual linking...

    myKeypad - New Android App

I have noticed that after I have connected with myKeypad and then later disconnected, my ISY-99i goes on the fritz. I am unable to connect to the ISY-99i until I reset it by unplugging power to it. This happens every time after I have tried to use the myKeypad app. I did recently just upgrade...

    myKeypad - New Android App

Believe me, I verified my router settings, the M1XEP configuration, and the app settings at least 5 times. The 1.1 version simply did not work for me. I confirmed that the alarm app I have on my iPod Touch worked just fine with the same settings, so I know it wasn't my setup. The good news...

    myKeypad - New Android App

Okay, here's the latest. Just as a test I decided to go ahead and remove the login username and password from my M1XEP and reconfigured myKeypad to only use the passcode as per the myKeypad author's suggestion to get around the "login" bug they have in the app that causes the panel...

    myKeypad - New Android App

Something is really fishy here. When this thing tries to connect, it kills internet access for the rest of the phone and can also sometimes cause the phone to lag real bad. I think it even caused my phone to reboot last night. EDIT: I was able to contact the developer via email (it took awhile...

    myKeypad - New Android App

I bought the myKeypad app but have not been able to get it to work yet. After I edit the settings in the "Edit panel" screen save click the save icon, it says it is connecting to the Elk and then it says "downloading zone definitions". This timesout after several minutes and then gives me a...

    Need latest M1XEP firmware

My apologies, I don'tknow why that would have bounced. I just sent you a PM with a different email address, thanks!

    Need latest M1XEP firmware

I'd like to update my M1XEP to the latest firmware. Unfortunately I just realized that Elk made all the old dealer accounts useless when they moved all the downloads to the new elkproducts.com site. I have registered as an M1 Owner but I really don't want to wait 2 business days before they...

    Netduino

That's awesome. I just bought an Arduino 2 months ago... I would have totally bought a Netduino!

    Insteon, Z-wave or something else

Forget the garagehawk... just get this kit: http://www.smarthome.com/74551/I-O-Linc-IN...atus-Kit/p.aspx It's cheaper and it's easy to setup. Combine this with a keypadLinc and you have a winning combo.
