1-Wire clocks for run time monitoring?

I'd like to use a 1-wire network to monitor my heating system. The temperature sensing seems easy. However, I'd also like to monitor run time on my burner and circulators. A CT and something like the HVAC monitor board are almost what I am thinking of, but if I understand it correctly, the HVAC board will only tell me if the burner is currently running. I'd rather a device that can answer the question "how long has the burner been running?". The idea is that I dont want to worry about the polling frequency. So something like a 1-wire clock that only ran when a contact was closed would be ideal. This way, I could poll as little as once per day or longer and still determine how long the burner has run since the last polling time. Does this sort of thing exist?

We don't have a device like that but I had heard of a device that used a DS2423 counter and a 555 circuit that would count when triggered by an external event. I don't remember where I saw it though.
