But you had to disable the screensaver in XP? My wife would never let me get rid of the 'aquarium' in exchange for a blank black screen when the TS is not in use.
 
I dunno if "I had to" - I had a "turn off monitor" screensaver anyhow. My wife hates all screensavers, much prefers the absence of lit displays.
 
a blank screen is better than a screensaver in terms of longevity of display, right? agreed, its a personal thing and the WAF always wins anyways.
 
Well, during the day a frame around a black piece of glass is just plain fugly. A great looking aquarium, waterfall, or even your favorite photos really adds to the character. Yes, I agree about longevity. Mine goes into sleep mode around midnight and wakes up around 6. But between those hours it remains on. Now, once there is event control over it in CQC I can turn it off when system armed, based on motion, etc.
 
Well, my wife used to work for one of market research firms tracking the monitor industry, and her area was to monitor the LCD industry. Hence, she's *very* opinionated about these things, and aquariums happen to be one of her pet peeves.

As Ranger indicated, I won't even bother telling you my opinion, as it's not really a factor in the decision-making process :-)
