Accessing/Changing Global System Definitions via 'serial' interface

I'm developing a program to access the ELKM1 Ethernet interface.  I've been looking through the M1 Ascii Protocol and Interface spec. I'd like to change a Global variable, but do not see an command to do this. Appreciate any suggestions...
