Well, things in life aren't always as simple or go as planned. Shortly after having such great success, I noticed that if I had the thermostats in Auto Changeover mode and issued a command, the thermostat accepted the command but then also activated a call for heat...even if it didn't make sense to do so or was required! I broke everything down to the simplest configuration possible and even when just issuing a command like "hold off" or "hold on" or "set cooling temp to 81 deg" it would do it, but then turn the darn heat on. This is without the TR60 connected to the HVAC system and running off it's own dedicated 24VAC power supply, so there are NO other interactions and it's not a power issue causing weird results. I called ELK and RCS and I'm currently working with RCS to figure this out. Personally I think it's something to do with having the TR60 and not the TR40. RCS did tell me the TR60 isn't exactly the same, so they are creating a test scenario on the bench and will get back to me by Friday most likely. <Sigh> so close and yet so far. I'm sure this will all get figured out and I'll document everything for those who find this information later because I know I've sure benefited from those who've done the same for other issues. It seems the TR40 had it's own control unit yet the TR60 has a 1 zone control unit, I guess for cost savings they take the 2 zone control unit and leave some parts off versus having a total separate pcb to build. And I know there was talk about the ELK not being compatible with the RCS zone units, but then I've read other posts that say they do work. Maybe so, but maybe not if you have the thermostat in Auto mode as in Auto Changeover Mode.
More details to come once I know more...but basically I've done everything I could and then had to call the experts to help figure out what's going on.
